Active holiday

Holidays on the sunny island

A sunny outlook for active holidays on Usedom: 42 km of beaches – as well as the sea and lakes for water lovers. The island of Usedom is a natural park with several nature reserves, including the Streckelsberg, only a few minutes away from us. For those who love exercise, cycle paths criss-cross the sunny island. What’s more, there are plenty of seaside resorts as well as sights to visit in the island’s interior. Start your active holiday with us in the amber resort of Koserow, located roughly in the middle of the long island.

Usedom

Important information about the island

With an average of over 1,900 hours of sunshine, Usedom is one of the sunniest areas in Germany.

At 373 km² in size, Usedom is the second largest island in Germany.

Koserow lies approximately at Usedom’s narrowest point, which is a good 300 metres wide.

Twice the water on offer: In Koserow you’re not far from both the Baltic Sea beach and the Achterwasser.

At 69 metres high, the Golm marks the highest elevation on Usedom.

Usedom is mostly in Germany and partially in Poland.

Usedom was already a popular holiday destination in the 19th century .

The Peenestrom river and the Achterwasser lagoon lie between the mainland and the island.

Whether spring, summer, autumn or winter on Usedom – every season has its charm.

Koserow seaside resort

Are you longing for that seaside holiday sensation?

Tranquil and beautiful

Koserow – the amber resort

The village, which originally made its living from fishing, has developed into a Baltic Sea resort while retaining its traditional roots. You can still buy freshly smoked fish caught by the fishermen themselves on the beach in Koserow.

The fine sandy seashore near Koserow is an open invitation to get active – whether playing football, volleyball or walking along the beach and the steep coast beyond it. A walk along the seafront is also worthwhile in the colder seasons. Koserow is an amber resort where amber can be found on the beach after big storms.

The joy of the beach on Usedom

Swimming, paddling, feeling the sand under your feet... Koserow’s gently sloping main beach is located in a picturesque spot behind the dunes. Rent one of the comfortable beach chairs to relax in by the Baltic Sea...

If the sea is too fresh for you to take a plunge, use our hotel swimming pool or visit the thermal baths in Ahlbeck or Zinnowitz.

Healthy sea air for your well-being

Take a deep breath

By the Achterwasser & the Baltic Sea

Water sports on Usedom

Usedom offers more than just the stunning sea: the Achterwasser – a large bay stretching from the Gnitz peninsula near Lütow via Zempin and Loddin to the Lieper Winkel peninsula – also awaits you.

Surfing on Usedom: For beginners, we recommend surfing on the calmer Achterwasser, while confident surfers can also try their hand on the outer coast and the Greifswald Bodden.

Kiteboarding: A combination of surfing and paragliding, kiteboarding is possible on Usedom on the Achterwasser (Stagnieß and Ückeritz harbours), the Baltic Sea (Karlshagen) and the Greifswald Bodden (Lubmin, Galkow).

Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP): You can try your hand at SUP on the Achterwasser and the Baltic Sea and explore routes on Usedom. We have two SUPs to rent at the hotel for a charge.

Diving: You can get a diving licence on Usedom and take part in various guided trips, e.g. from Zinnowitz.

Sailing: Sailing trips with the “Weißen Düne” (White Dune) can be taken from the harbours in Wolgast, Neppermin and Karlshagen. What are known as Zeesenboot boats sail on the Achterwasser – the starting point is in Krummin harbour. You can also explore Usedom with yachts and sports boats, e.g. from the harbours in Ückeritz and Zinnowitz.

Water skiing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding: Try out these water sports on the Baltic Sea in Zinnowitz, Karlshagen and Heringsdorf.

Fishing on your Baltic Sea holiday
